| In our annual map issue of Portfolio, v. 62, no. 10, we feel that we
have put together an interesting collection of rare and unusual maps. Highlights
include a fine matched set of the world and continents by Gerard Valk; three
maps of the Pacific Ocean and Hawaii; a nice assortment of affordable eighteenth-century
maps of North America; John Melish's important coast-to-coast map of the
United States; a highly rare silken copy of Louis Evans' grand "landmark"
map of the Middle British colonies; Dennis Griffith's large map of Maryland
& Delaware; and a collection of highly important seventeenth-century English
produced maps of American colonies by such cartographers as Robert Morden,
William Berry, John Seller, John Thornton, and Philip Lea. The Portfolio
has a nice assortment of regional maps of America including Long Island,
the Upper Midwest, and the West Coast. There are a large group of celestial
charts by John Flamsteed and a copy of the original "Beaver Map" of America.

| Please remember that we are always seeking to purchase maps and atlases,
especially of American interest. |
